Judo For All!

Judo is a modern martial art, Olympic sport, physical education system and social development tool. It was founded in 1882 by Jigaro Kano, a man who eventually became the director of primary education at the Ministry of Education. He was also the first asian member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

Judo means the gentle way. It has many different components and is meant to be enjoyed by the entire society: from the parent who wants to teach their children discipline, to the olympic athlete, to those looking to stay in shape. Judo is many things to many people.

The Bahamas Judo Long term Development Plan, looks at the sport in its entirety and shows (an estimante) of where each person is. The horizontal axis is hours of training. The vertical axis is age. It gives a guideline for all so that persons can have a realistic view of what is achievable.
